Active City Engagement Plan and Forum

Client

Duration

2014-2015

GPA developed an outreach and engagement plan targeting external stakeholders to promote Toronto Public Health’s Active City message. The goal was to raise awareness about the links between the built environment and health outcomes, as well as find opportunities for collaboration among city-building stakeholder groups, such as private sector design professionals, planners, engineers, developers, major property owners, BIAs and community organizations. The engagement plan was informed by seven key stakeholder interviews and the Active City Forum. The Forum brought together over 100 participants from across City departments and a broad range of stakeholders from diverse organizations. The day-long event included speakers sharing a variety of perspectives on healthy built environments and small facilitated breakout workshops, which engaged participants in roundtable discussions on particular sub-topics. This project was commissioned to promote the Active City Policy Project, and built on the community outreach assignment Walk – Cycle – Move, both led by GPA.
