Reimagining the Mall

GPA is the lead consultant in the creation of a vision and supporting planning policy for the potential redevelopment of five nodes anchored by shopping centres based on a healthy, complete community ideal. The project is supported by extensive consultation with community members, landowners and municipal staff. Engagement techniques include pop-up kiosks, intercept interviews, an on-line survey, community workshops and a day-long learning event targeted at city staff, stakeholders and city-building professionals. Working in partnership with DTAH and urbanMetrics, the study will ultimately help guide future intensification in these areas in  where residents can live, work, play and raise a family in an environment that supports and encourages healthy lifestyles and physical activity. The study will make recommendations to put policies and implementation tools in place to guide potential redevelopment and intensification so that a common vision is advanced when landowners choose to redevelop in the future.
