Light Rapid Transit Intensification Study

GPA members led a team of consultants including Young + Wright Architects and Greenberg Consultants Inc., to design and conduct a series of workshops with public and private agencies, municipal staff and community groups with the aim of developing guidelines for intensification along a key portion of a planned LRT line near downtown Ottawa. The recommendations included land use and density envelopes, block plans and urban design guidelines. GPA members were also asked to help implement the guidelines at a key intersection between the proposed LRT Line and the Bus Rapid Transit Line as part of the second phase of this project. This involved a series of meetings with City staff, key landowners and developers to determine detailed development possibilities taking into account the implications of such things as road access, servicing and flood plain constraints.
