Duration
2015-2016
Gladki Planning Associates was retained by the City of Toronto to conduct a needs assessment of the community services and facilities (CS&F) in the Yonge Eglinton area of Toronto. Through community and stakeholder consultation, a review of background policy documents and a demographic analysis, this assessment identifies existing and future CS&F needs, gaps and priorities, as well as opportunities for collaboration and partnerships that will inform the implementation of a phased approach designed to ensure that services and facilities continue to meet existing and future needs in the area
This CS&F assessment is one of the components of the Growth, Built Form and Infrastructure Review, a City initiated, inter-divisional study being undertaken with the goal of informing the development of up-to-date policies and identifying capital upgrades required to support the vitality and quality of life in the Yonge-Eglinton area.
The Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan Area, bounded roughly by Blythwood Road and Briar Hill Avenue to the north, the Mount Pleasant Cemetery to the south, Chaplin Crescent and Latimer Avenue to the west and Bayview Avenue to the east, is one of Toronto’s most dynamic and vibrant communities. It is home to nearly 60,000 residents and serves as a key destination for thousands more who come to the area to work, attend school, access services and enjoy amenities that are available to residents and visitors. The area is also experiencing rapid growth and as the population changes, it is important to plan for the adequate provision of community services and facilities.
